Authors' Guidelines & Article Submission

Paraskevi Journal of Economics and Management Sciences (PJEMS)

1. Scope of the Journal

Paraskevi Journal of Economics and Management Sciences (PJEMS) publishes original scholarly research in economics, management sciences, business, finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, development studies, public policy, organizational studies, and related interdisciplinary fields.

The journal welcomes theoretical, empirical, methodological, conceptual, and applied research that makes a meaningful contribution to knowledge.

2. Types of Manuscripts

PJEMS considers the following types of scholarly contributions:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Systematic Literature Reviews
  • Conceptual Papers
  • Theoretical Papers
  • Empirical Studies
  • Case Studies
  • Short Research Communications
  • Policy and Practice Papers
  • Interdisciplinary Research Articles

The Editor-in-Chief may consider other manuscript types where they make a substantial scholarly contribution.

3. Originality and Exclusive Submission

Manuscripts submitted to PJEMS must be original.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • The work has not been published previously;
  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal;
  • The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted elsewhere;
  • All sources have been appropriately acknowledged;
  • All authors have approved the submission.

Simultaneous submission of substantially the same manuscript to multiple journals is not permitted.

4. Recommended Manuscript Structure

Research articles should normally follow a logical academic structure appropriate to the discipline.

A typical research article may contain:

  1. Title
  2. Author Information
  3. Abstract
  4. Keywords
  5. Introduction
  6. Literature Review / Theoretical Framework
  7. Methodology
  8. Results / Findings
  9. Discussion
  10. Conclusion
  11. Recommendations or Implications, where appropriate
  12. Acknowledgements, where applicable
  13. Funding Statement
  14. Conflict of Interest Statement
  15. Data Availability Statement, where applicable
  16. References
  17. Appendices, where necessary

The appropriate structure may differ for conceptual papers, review articles, case studies, and other manuscript types.

5. Title

The title should be:

  • Clear;
  • Concise;
  • Specific;
  • Informative;
  • Relevant to the content of the manuscript.

Avoid unnecessary abbreviations and excessively long titles.

6. Author Information

The title page should provide:

  • Full name of each author;
  • Institutional affiliation;
  • Department or academic unit, where applicable;
  • City and country;
  • Institutional or professional email address;
  • ORCID iD, where available;
  • Identification of the corresponding author.

Authors should ensure that names and affiliations are accurately presented because these details form part of the permanent scholarly record.

7. Authorship

Authorship should reflect substantial intellectual contribution to the research and manuscript.

Authors should not include individuals who have not made an appropriate contribution merely because of seniority, institutional position, friendship, funding, or other non-scholarly considerations.

PJEMS does not support:

  • Guest authorship;
  • Gift or honorary authorship;
  • Ghost authorship;
  • Unjustified exclusion of contributors.

All authors must approve the final manuscript before submission.

The journal may request an Author Contribution Statement where appropriate. COPE recommends that journals clearly state authorship and contributorship requirements and provide mechanisms for handling authorship disputes.

8. Abstract

The abstract should provide a concise summary of the manuscript.

For original research articles, the abstract should normally indicate:

  • Background or context;
  • Research objective;
  • Methodology;
  • Principal findings;
  • Conclusion or implications.

The abstract should normally be approximately 150–300 words, unless a different format is specified for a particular manuscript type.

9. Keywords

Authors should provide approximately 4–8 keywords that accurately represent the main subjects, concepts, methods, and themes of the manuscript.

Keywords should avoid unnecessary repetition of words already appearing in the title.

10. Introduction

The introduction should establish:

  • The research context;
  • The problem being investigated;
  • The research gap;
  • The purpose of the study;
  • Research questions, objectives, or hypotheses where appropriate;
  • The contribution or significance of the research.

11. Literature Review

The literature review should demonstrate appropriate engagement with relevant scholarly literature.

Authors should:

  • Use authoritative sources;
  • Engage with relevant recent research;
  • Identify important theoretical perspectives;
  • Clearly establish the research gap;
  • Avoid unnecessary citation of irrelevant literature.

References should accurately support the claims for which they are cited.

12. Methodology

The methodology should provide sufficient information for readers and reviewers to understand how the study was conducted.

Depending on the research design, this may include:

  • Research design;
  • Study population;
  • Sample and sampling procedure;
  • Data sources;
  • Research instruments;
  • Variables;
  • Data collection procedures;
  • Statistical methods;
  • Econometric models;
  • Computational methods;
  • Machine-learning procedures;
  • Validation procedures;
  • Ethical procedures.

Authors should report methodological limitations honestly.

13. Results and Findings

Results should be presented clearly and objectively.

Authors should distinguish between:

  • Results directly supported by the analysis; and
  • Interpretations or implications of those results.

Tables and figures should be used where they improve clarity and should not unnecessarily duplicate information presented in the text.

14. Tables and Figures

All tables and figures must:

  • Be numbered consecutively;
  • Have appropriate titles or captions;
  • Be referred to in the manuscript;
  • Be clear and readable;
  • Identify sources where applicable;
  • Have appropriate permission where copyrighted material is reproduced.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material where required.

15. References

Authors must ensure that references are:

  • Accurate;
  • Relevant;
  • Complete;
  • Consistent with the journal's required referencing style.

Every source cited in the manuscript should appear in the reference list, and every reference listed should be cited in the manuscript.

Authors should provide DOI information where available.

Fabricated references and citation manipulation are unacceptable.

16. Research Ethics

Where applicable, authors must obtain appropriate ethical approval before conducting research involving human participants or other ethically sensitive activities.

Manuscripts should provide appropriate information concerning:

  • Ethical approval;
  • Informed consent;
  • Confidentiality;
  • Data protection;
  • Participant protection.

Research involving personal or confidential information must comply with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

17. Data Availability

Authors should provide a Data Availability Statement where applicable.

For example:

Data Availability Statement: The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

Where data cannot be shared because of privacy, confidentiality, contractual, ethical, or legal restrictions, the authors should clearly explain the applicable restrictions.

18. Funding Statement

Authors should disclose financial or institutional support received for the research.

Where applicable, the statement should identify the funding organization and relevant grant information.

Where no external funding was received, authors may state:

Funding: This research received no external funding.

19. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose relevant actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.

Where no conflict exists, authors may state:

Conflict of Interest: The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest.

20. Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI

Authors may use AI-assisted technologies for appropriate research-support activities, including language improvement, translation, coding, formatting, and other legitimate purposes.

However:

  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors;
  • Authors remain responsible for all submitted content;
  • AI-generated information must be independently verified;
  • AI-generated references must be checked;
  • AI must not be used to fabricate data or research findings;
  • Substantive use of generative AI should be disclosed according to the journal's Generative AI Policy.

COPE states that AI tools cannot meet authorship requirements because they cannot take responsibility for the submitted work.

21. Plagiarism and Similarity Screening

Manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism or inappropriate text reuse.

A similarity score alone does not establish plagiarism. The editorial team may assess the source, context, and nature of identified similarities.

Suspected plagiarism or other forms of misconduct may result in rejection or investigation.

22. Copyright and Licensing

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts do not infringe third-party intellectual-property rights.

Where copyrighted tables, figures, images, instruments, or substantial quotations are reproduced, authors must obtain permission where required.

Copyright and licensing arrangements are governed by the journal's Copyright and Licensing Policy.

23. Manuscript Language

Manuscripts should be written in clear, professional academic English.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are appropriately edited for:

  • Grammar;
  • Spelling;
  • Syntax;
  • Terminology;
  • Clarity;
  • Consistency.

24. Editorial and Peer Review

Manuscripts that meet the journal's initial requirements may undergo external peer review.

PJEMS normally operates a double-anonymous peer-review process.

The peer-review process is described in detail on the journal's Peer Review Process page.

25. Author Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to:

  • Provide accurate information;
  • Respond appropriately to editorial and reviewer comments;
  • Disclose conflicts of interest;
  • Provide ethical and funding information where applicable;
  • Cooperate with research-integrity investigations;
  • Correct significant errors discovered after publication;
  • Comply with PJEMS publication policies.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

Submission to PJEMS

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the Paraskevi Journal of Economics and Management Sciences (PJEMS) online submission system.

Authors should create an account on the journal website before initiating a submission.

A cover letter should not contain exaggerated claims regarding the importance or novelty of the research.

6. Initial Editorial Assessment

After submission, the editorial office conducts an initial assessment.

The manuscript may be checked for:

  • Journal scope;
  • Completeness;
  • Basic academic quality;
  • Formatting;
  • Originality and similarity;
  • Ethical compliance;
  • Appropriate authorship information;
  • Conflicts of interest;
  • Other submission requirements.

Manuscripts that do not meet essential requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or declined before external review.

7. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass initial editorial assessment may be sent to independent reviewers.

PJEMS normally uses double-anonymous peer review.

Authors should ensure that identifying information is removed from the anonymized manuscript where required.

The full process is described in the journal's Peer Review Process policy.

8. Revisions

If revisions are requested, authors should submit:

  1. A revised manuscript; and
  2. A detailed response to the reviewers' comments.

The response should identify how each substantive comment has been addressed.

Where the authors disagree with a reviewer, they should provide a clear scholarly explanation.

9. Acceptance

Acceptance is based on the editorial and peer-review process.

Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

Payment of an Article Processing Charge, where applicable, does not influence editorial or peer-review decisions.

10. Article Processing Charges

Where an APC applies, the applicable charge is stated on the journal's Article Processing Charges page.

Any applicable publication charge is independent of the scholarly assessment of the manuscript.

Authors should not be required to pay a publication fee merely to obtain peer review.

11. After Acceptance

Following acceptance, the manuscript may undergo:

  • Copyediting;
  • Language editing;
  • Typesetting;
  • Proofreading;
  • Metadata preparation;
  • DOI registration;
  • Final publication preparation.

Authors may be asked to review the proofs and identify factual or production errors before publication.

Proof corrections should normally be limited to necessary corrections and should not introduce substantial new material unless approved by the editor.

12. Post-Publication Responsibilities

Authors remain responsible for notifying PJEMS if they discover a significant error in their published article.

Depending on the nature of the issue, the journal may publish:

  • A Correction;
  • Erratum;
  • Corrigendum;
  • Expression of Concern; or
  • Retraction.

13. Withdrawal of Manuscripts

Authors should not withdraw manuscripts after peer review merely because they disagree with reviewer comments or editorial recommendations.

Requests for withdrawal should be submitted by the corresponding author and should provide a clear reason.

Where a manuscript has already incurred substantial editorial or production work, any applicable withdrawal conditions will be governed by the journal's publication policy.
